Saturday Night Report

Returning from the New Trier Tournament, I was very impressed with the level of play from all four teams involved (Evanston, New Trier, Sandburg, St Viator). Each school looked like a Top 10 team in the state this year. Evanston ended up winning the tournament (if margin of victory was the tiebreaker) after holding off New Trier in the last game of the night that was very close from start to finish. Sandburg controlled the tempo in their game against St Viator, yet the Lions were hanging around towards the end of the game. And honestly in the final game, Evanston and New Trier provided a blueprint for how to play water polo and how to coach water polo in almost every instance of the game...they could play each other 2-3 more times this year and those have to be labeled as "can't miss" games.
