Weeeeeee Reaady - Sectional Finals Blog

3:37pm Barrington defeated Fremd 8-5 to advance...LWE upsets LWC in overtime, as Sarah Campel scored the game winner with just over one minute to play.

3:07pm Stevenson clinches another state berth with an 11-5 victory over Mundelein.

3:01pm LOYOLA girls advance with an 11-7 win over New Trier. Jackie Sershon led the way on offense for the Ramblers with 4 goals. Three games left to go...

2:50pm Loyola leads New Trier 8-4 with just 7:00 minutes to go...Barrington leads Fremd 5-1 after one period...McAuley and Sandburg are in progress...

2:38pm Umm...girls teams that have advanced: Fenwick, Ignatius, Naperville Central; currently, Barrington and Loyola lead early on in their games, while three other games are in progress right now.

2:22pm Fenwick will be the second team to advance as they wrap up their game with Oak Park; at last check they led 11-4 late in the game. Also, Loyola, who had a 2-0 lead early over New Trier, saw their lead cut in half at the end of the quarter.

2:17pm Ignatius claims the first girls berth with a 10-2 win over Latin...Nora Kennelly scored 5 goals in the Wolfpack's win. In earlier boys games, Jason Ament led LWE with 4 goals in their win, while Skylar Davis poured in 6 scores for Palatine. Naperville Central up 5-2 with 5:00 minutes to go against Neuqua Valley.

2:11pm LYONS claims the final state berth, beating Sandburg 15-8...earlier, Tom Parolin scored 4 goals to lead Fenwick over St Patrick...and with so much going on and overlapping, two more games have started between Stevenson-Mundelein and Loyola-New Trier; also, Barrington-Fremd and LWC-LWE are getting underway now - this means we now have 8 boys teams that have advanced and 7 girls gaves in progress. (Sandburg-McAuley starts at 2:30pm)

2:06pm TWO NEW TEAMS HAVE PUNCHED THEIR TICKET TO STATE: Lincoln-Way East beats rival Lincoln-Way Central 12-8, while Palatine also beats Fremd 12-6 to qualify for state.

2:01pm Central leading Neuqua 3-1 at halftime, Ignatius still up 7-2, Fenwick up 8-1 on Oak Park.

1:51pm Ignatius explodes for 3 straight goals to lead 6-2 over Latin late in the second quarter. Fenwick now leading Oak Park 5-0. Central and Neuqua go to the second quarter tied at 1-1. Nothing yet from the boys games, other than Palatine up 9-5 on Fremd. Ignatius up 7-2 after a Maisie O'Malley goal.

1:45pm Central and Neuqua tied at 1-1 early, Fenwick leads Oak Park 3-0 nearing the end of one period, and Ignatius clinging to a 3-2 lead over Latin (all girls games)...Yadi Leon scores on an outside shot after a timeout to make it 4-2 Ignatius.

1:38pm Claire Henderson answers for Latin after Nora Kennelly scored for Ignatius; Ignatius leads after one period 2-1.

1:33pm Ali Durkin scores the first goal for St Ignatius as they lead Latin 1-0 early...Palatine in control at halftime over Fremd 7-3...

1:27pm Put two more in progess signs up, as St Ignatius-Latin should be a close game and the same goes for Naperville Central-Neuqua Valley.

1:23pm Palatine leads Fremd by one goal after the opening period at their sectional (3-2)...

1:16pm Three boys games are in play right now; Palatine-Fremd, Lyons-Sandburg, and LWE-LWC..one girls game has also started just now (Fenwick-Oak Park).

1:14pm Fenwick has knocked off St Patrick 9-6 to advance to state...in the other games, Nate LeRoy led Loyola with 6 goals in the Ramblers win over Evanston...both Kevin Bell and Tyler Olsen scored three goals in Central's sectional win over Waubonsie...

12:59pm Naperville Central beats Waubonsie 9-6 to advance to state...Latin wins14-5 over St Ignatius...Mundelein advances 14-11 over Stevenson...and as mentioned before, Loyola beat Evanston 13-5.

12:55pm Loyola advances to state with a 13-5 win over Evanston...Stevenson creeps closer with two quick goals in the fourth quarter; they trail 12-9...Latin, already up 4 most of the game, played man-up the entire fourth quarter after a brutality call on Ignatius and now leads 12-4 with a few minutes left...

12:49pm Loyola looking like the first team to advance, as they hold a 10-4 lead on Evanston...Latin also seeing a state berth ahead of them as they lead Ignatius 9-4 heading to the fourth quarter...

12:42pm Mundelein ahead of Stevenson 10-7 with one quarter remaining...Latin leads Ignatius 8-4 in the third...Loyola leads Evanston 8-4 after the third period...Central leads Waubonsie 7-4 after three...

12:35pm St Ignatius got to within 7-4 of Latin, but Jordan Himmel scored with 4:14 to go in the third period to keep the Romans in control....Naperville Central now leads Waubonsie 5-3 halfway through the third quarter...

12:31pm Mundelein posts an 8-6 lead over Stevenson at halftime...Loyola scores two quick goals to lead Evanston 5-2.

12:26pm Aaron Hecht makes it 5-2, but Grant Wilkie scores just moments later to push Latin's lead over St Ignatius to 6-2...Waubonsie and Central are deadlocked at 2-2 late in the first half...Evanston's goal at the end of the half was disallowed as time had expired before the shot, so they remain behind 3-1 at the half...Ignatius scores with 0:13 seconds left in the half to try and hang in with Latin, as they now trail 7-3 at halftime...now Central has gone ahead of Waubonsie by one goal at halftime (4-3)...no report from Fenwick-Pats or Mundelein-Stevenson.

12:19pm Balanced attack for Latin has the Romans ahead 5-1 midway through the second...Evanston has gotten a bit closer with their first goal cutting Loyola's lead down to 3-1 with 2:15 to play in the half.

12:11pm Nate LeRoy has scored twice for Loyola and the Ramblers are in control early with a 3-0 lead on Evanston...St Ignatius got on the board late in the first quarter but Latin had an answer and leads 4-1 heading to the second quarter...Waubonsie and Naperville Central are even at 1-1 after one period of play.

12:04pm Sam Kettlewell strikes for Latin and the Romans have a 1-0 lead after their first possession. Grant Wilkie scores from up top to make the score 2-0 Latin...no score reports from elsewhere yet.
