Stevenson Tournament - Day 1 Report

Stevenson 8 Brother Rice 8
In the tournament opener, the Patriots jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter, as Brian Mitchell scored 3 goals and Kevin Alland and goalie Dmitry Simonoff added one score each. After falling behind 7-2 late in the second period, the Crusaders battled back, using a 6-1 run, started off by a Sean Coghlan goal late in the second period and completed with the game-tying goal with just :26 seconds remaining after a timeout.

St Patrick 8 Oak Park 3
With the score tied at 2-2 late in the second quarter, James Ridgeway scored twice before the half to start the Shamrocks on a 5-0 run, leading to an 8-3 win over Oak Park.

Fenwick 10 Mundelein 4
The Friars jumped out to a 7-0 lead en route to a 10-4 win over Mundelein in the first round game. Junior Tom Parolin scored 3 goals to lead the way for Fenwick, while John Barrett and Like Baldwin each scored twice in the victory.

Naperville Central 7 Stevenson 3
Ryan Alberts recorded 3 goals and Pat Leclair scored twice as the Redhawks held on for a hard-fought 7-3 win over Stevenson.

St Patrick 12 Palatine 10
In the evening's best game, St Patrick recovered from a 9-7 deficit late in the third quarter to squeak past Palatine 12-10. James Ridgeway led the Shamrocks with 6 goals and Joe Przekota added 4 scores in the win. Palatine's Skylar Davis led the Pirates' upset bid with 6 goals.

Fenwick 13 Lake Forest 3
Luke Baldwin scored 3 goals and John Barrett, Tom Parolin, and Tom Grusecki each tallied 2 goals by halftime as the Friars coasted to a 13-3 win.
